Dial-Up Connection Set Up Info for Win 95

To begin the setup of a FraserValleyBC.com Dial-Up Connection, please double-click on The Internet icon:
If The Internet icon does not start the Internet Connection Wizard, go to the Start menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Internet Connection Wizard.
Click Next -->.
Select Manual from the setup options and click Next -->.
Click Next -->.
Select Connect using my phone line and click Next -->.
FraserValleyBC.com does not recommend using Windows Messaging or MS Exchange for your e-mail. (or Outlook Express for that matter either)

Please select No, I don't want to use Windows Messaging and click 
Next -->.

Windows will now require your Windows '95 CD-ROM to copy some files. If you do not have the CD, you may instead have the installation .cab files on your hard drive. 
If you do not have the .cab files on your CD or hard drive, you will not be able to connect with the Internet!
Once you are ready to proceed, click 
Next -->.
The next thing you need to do when setting up a new connection is to give it a name. Enter in FraserValleyBC.com as the name of the computer you are dialing. 
Click Next -->
Next you need to enter the phone number of the computer you are dialing (do not enter your home phone number in this space). If you do not know the phone number for FraserValleybc.com for your area click here
Click Next -->
Enter your username. Your username is given to you by our accounts department when your join us. The username must be all lower-case (no capitals), and no dots or spaces.

Enter your password (unless you wish to be asked the password every time you wish to connect) and click Next -->.

Select My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one and click Next -->.
Please leave the DNS Server lines blank and click Next -->.
It will ask-->

FraserValleyBC.com supports Server Assigned Name Server Addresses, so please click Yes.

Click Finish to create the dial-up networking connection. 
That will create the dial-up networking connection. There are a couple settings that should be changed to optimize performance. 
To do this double click on your My Computer Icon that is on your desktop. It should look like this: 

Then double click on Dial Up Networking

Click on the FraserValleyBC.com icon once then go to the File menu and select Properties
Make sure the 'Use country code and area code' box is NOT checked. 
 
 

Click on Server Types

Make sure that the only option that is selected is TCP/IP. All of the other options and protocols should NOT be checked. 
Click on TCP/IP Settings

Make sure that 'Server assigned IP' address is selected. 
Make sure that 'Server assigned name server addresses' is selected. 
Make sure that both 'Use IP header compression' and 'Use default gateway on remote network' are checked. 


That is it! You should now be able to get connected to the internet!
